Easy for public transportation

We live in downtown NYC with a 17 month old and have used a P&T Sport and Ergo to get around since his birth. Now that our little one is a bit older, we've been wanting to take advantage of all the museums and sights around the city, but the P&T is too heavy to fold, unfold, and carry onto subways and buses and carrying him in the Ergo can get heavy and hot (in the summer).A lightweight umbrella stroller was the logical next step. But it had to be truly lightweight (other than carrying my child, I don't work out!), with recline, and most importantly, easy to fold and unfold with one hand. This was pivotal for me since I have an active child and would not trust that he would patiently stand next to me while I fumbled with two hands to fold a stroller. So, the Pliko Mini had all that I looked for. Maclarens are lightweight and reclines, but you have to bend all the way down to the floor to actually 'clip' the stroller shut. The Pliko Mini shuts like the Pliko Si~ by unlatching two clips on the stroller handle and pulling a shut handle in a swift, quick motion. I can shut and open this stroller while HOLDING my 17 month old. BIG PLUS! One note~make sure the front wheels are locked into the 'straight' position to make the stroller stand more readily once it's folded. Otherwise, you'd have to mess with the swiveling front wheels so that it turns in such a way for the stroller to stand on its own.The stroller was easy to assemble, just snap in the four wheels; hang the mesh undercarriage basket; attach the sunshade and cupholder. The first time I put the stroller in the car, the cupholder came off. I'm not sure if it's because I didn't attach it properly or if this will be an ongoing problem.I have to admit though, that after using a P&T Sport for almost a year and a half, the Pliko Mini feels a bit flimsy. I suspect though, that this is just how lightweight strollers work. It maneuvers well, but is noisy against the NYC pavement. One unexpected thing is that as a 5'8" woman, I found myself hitting against the rear wheels a few times while strolling. It's not something I can't live with, I just didn't expect that to happen as it doesn't happen with the P&T.The 5 point harness is actually 2 clips~we have to put our son's arms through the straps and buckle by the stomach.We figured out a way to use our P&T foot muff (which has separate shoulder and waist straps~4 buckles)on the Pliko Mini-which saves us at least another $40 or so. We took the shoulder straps off from the back of the stroller and threaded it through the waist slots of the P&T footmuff and then finally through the shoulder slots of the footmuff and then attached it back onto the back of the stroller!In any case, so far, I really like the stroller and am excited to take my son on city excursions!**UPDATES**. Just wanted to post an update now that we've used this stroller for 10 months. The stroller is still holding up, but sometimes, I do wonder if other lightweights feel as flimsy as this one. With that said, nothing has broken and everything still opens and shuts as well as it did the day we took it out of the box. My mother who takes care of my son while we are at work loves this stroller. She takes him on the city buses with ease, strolls for about a mile each way during the warm months to this great park nearby, it folds and tucks away easily in cramped NYC restaurants. Just today, he fell asleep during our walk back from the doctor and I was able to easily recline him while he was snoozing for more comfort. This stroller has really delivered!

Let me start with this is the umbrella stroller with the biggest canopy I've ever seen, even if the sun is directly on his face I just incline to the second position and it's gone. It is very light and easy to fold (really ONE hand). The green is really cute and not as bright as it looked on the picture. I have very long legs and the handles are high enough that I don't kick the back of the stroller (as I read on one of the reviews and was a little worried about it). Now the reason for my 4 stars: There is no place for parents to put your cellphone or keys, a little pocket on the back of the canopy would have been doable and great, like I've seen in other umbrella strollers. I actually don't think there's a stroller out there that has it all, the Maclaren has the pocket but the canopy is a lot smaller than the Pliko Mini, so you just have to figure out what exactly you are looking for and what are you whiling to give it away. I live where it's really hot and sunny, so my main thing was the canopy, and you can buy a little strap pocket thing that you attach on the handles. Before you fold it make sure you lock the front wheels so the stroller stands by itself otherwise you have to move them a little to the right position. One last thing, when you unfold it the front of the seat has to lock, before I realized that the stroller almost folded with my son on it, all you have to do is kinda press back on the handles and once you get a hang of it it's no trouble. Overall I really like this stroller and don't regret buying it.

This is the one!

We have a fabulous full size stroller at home, but we decided we needed a light weight travel stroller that was good for our three year old and good for summer vacations. We have an inexpensive umbrella stroller, and they are great for the trunk, but they do leave quite a bit to be desired especially for traveling.We tried the Uppa Baby G-Luxe, and ended up sending that back. I posted a review on that as well. We looked at the Maclarens at the store, but we were most impressed with the Pliko Mini, so we ordered it last week. The fabric seems very durable with lots of fun color options. I love the ease of the closing and opening; it's super slick. We have a big three year old, so it's a nice spacious seat and it accomodates his long legs nicely. The recline is great and functions like a beach chair with three reclining postitions. Great sun canopy with a window to peek at him. My husband thought it was a little shakey at first after I put it together, but the wheels have suspension. We've done our research, and we're really impressed.
